Nice enlistment paper of a 22 year old sailor from Philadelphia signing up in a regiment created for the defense of New Orleans. 

I, John Fenimore born in Philadelphia in the state of Pennsylvania aged 22 years, and by occupation a Sailor do hereby acknowledge to have volunteered this Twenty Second day of April 1864 to serve as a Soldier in the Army of the United States, for the defences of New Orleans, and Camp Parapet at Carrollton for the period of THREE YEARS….
Sworn and subscribed at New Orleans LA this 22nd day of April 1864

The 1st Louisiana Regiment New Orleans Infantry was a regiment in the Union Army during the American Civil War.

The Regiment was organized in New Orleans, Louisiana, on March 6, 1864, and was on garrison and guard duty in the New Orleans defenses. The unit mustered out in May 1866.
