Ray Tracey Vintage Native American Navajo Turquoise Inlay Sterling Silver Necklace
This is an astonishing vintage Navajo inlaid silver necklace handmade by the famous artist, Ray Tracey. Resting at the bottom of the necklace are superior inlaid stones that consist of turquoise and sugulite. The inlaid thick silver section measures around 2-1/8" X 1". Situated at the sides of the inlaid stones are wonderful line segments. Resting up the necklace are large impeccable round silver beads with end extremely long curved silver cones and a thick traditional silver clasp. I absolutely love this phenomenal necklace. Ray Tracey is a prominent Navajo artist known for his work in Native American jewelry design. He was born on the Navajo Nation in 1943 and grew up in the Crownpoint and Chinle areas of New Mexico and Arizona, respectively. Ray Tracey is renowned for his innovative approach to blending traditional Native American jewelry techniques with contemporary designs.
Tracey began his career as an artist by apprenticing under his uncle, a silversmith, where he learned the foundational skills of jewelry making. Over time, he developed his own unique style, incorporating intricate silverwork, colorful gemstones, and culturally significant symbols into his pieces. His jewelry often features elements from Navajo and Pueblo cultures, as well as his own creative interpretations.
