Sleeveless Vest Paper Sewing Pattern & Guidebook

Sewing pattern for women's sleeveless vest.
Fully lined.
2 lengths: short (waist), long (mid-hip).
3 closures: edge to edge (without overlap), buttoned (overlap on a button width), crossed (overlap on a double button width).
3 necklines: round neckline, V-neckline, stand-up collar.
Different types of closures: buttons, snaps, tie, toggle closure(s), loop(s) and button(s), webbing, zipper.
Optional pockets in the cut-out (long version only).
Optional belt and loops for the long version.
The classic shepherd's vest revisited for a multitude of possible styles!

Skill level: easy to intermediate

What you will learn with this sewing pattern: how to line a garment, sew pockets in a cut-out, assemble a belt and loops.

A video is available in free access on the site including the complete assembly of the garment (all options).

Size range for women: 32, 34, 36, 38, 40, 42, 44, 46, 48, 50, 52 (French sizes)

The size 32 corresponds approximately to a 14 years old and the 34 to a 16 years old

Fabric and trims:
  • Buttons or snaps option: thin interfacing + 15 mm (⅝’’) buttons or snaps
  • Tie option: ribbon, cord, lace, braid...
  • Toggle closure option: 1 to 5 brandenburg(s)
  • Zipper option: open end metal or plastic zipper (see measurements on the chart)
  • Webbing option: 40 mm (1 ½’’) webbing (about 60 cm / 24’’) + 2 buckles with 38 mm (1 ½’’) half round loops

The requirements are the same for the outer fabric and the lining. The requirements shown are for one fabric. For example, for a long crossed vest, V-neckline, in size 40, 70 cm (⅞ yard) of outer fabric and 70 cm (⅞ yard) of lining will be needed.
