Paper sewing pattern for travel bags accessories

Pattern for travel bag, yoga bag, nursery bag, handbag or toiletry bag, VOYAGE will accompany you in your daily life or for all your escapades.

Full lining. Inside pockets, ouside pockets for the bag. Wide zipped opening for an optimal convenience. Side handle for the vanity case. Handles in 2 lengths for the bag: hand or shoulder carry. Optional shoulder strap for the bag, adjustable and removable.

Sewing level: intermediate

What you will learn with this pattern: to assemble a perfect lining, to assemble zippers, pockets, handles and a shoulder strap.

Sizes: Bag: S, M, L - Vanity case: one size.

S size bag: 30 x 21 x 17 cm = 11^3/4x 8^1/4x 6^3/4 in. (W x H x D)
M size bag: 40 x 30 x 19 cm = 15^3/4x 11^3/4x 7^1/2 in. (W x H x D)
L size bag: 50 x 42 x 21 cm = 19^3/4x 16^1/2x 8^1/4 in. (W x H x D)
Vanity case: 25 x 15 x 10 cm = 9^7/8x 5^7/8x 3^7/8 in. (W x H x D)
W x H x D = Width x Height x Depth

The S size bag can be used as a pouch bag, nursery bag or purse. The M size bag can carry clothes and toiletries for an overnight stay or can be used for work as its size allows to carry documents or a laptop up to 15 inches. Finally, the large travel bag size L can take things for a weekend or serve as a shopping bag or sportsbag. The rectangular vanity case is large enough to hold a toiletry kit.

Supplies and fabrics:

Fabrics:

Outer fabric: 300-400 gsm = 111-148 lbs thick woven fabric such as canvas, gabardine, denim, corduroy, woollen fabric, quilted fabric, imitation leather or leather. Thinner woven fabric such as honeycomb, linen or ribstop (nylon parachute fabric) for a "soft bag" effect or to be interfaced with a thick interlining. The use of sherpa is also possible with a reinforcing interlining on the back to stabilize the fabric.
Lining: cotton poplin, chambray, seersucker

Others supplies

Fusible interlining: woven (Vlieseline G700), non-woven (Vlieseline H200) or wadded woven (Vlieseline H630 or H640), depending on the desired effect. If you are unsure about your first attempt, choose a wadded interlining. Please note that if your fabric is already quilted, there is no need for interfacing as the fabric already has some hold.

Closed end (non-detachable) zipper: metal or nylon (standard length or chain), 1 for the center opening (with 1 or 2 sliders) and 1 or 2 optional for the outside pockets (with one slider)

Optional: thick 40 mm = 1^1/2 in. wide webbing (or 30 mm 1^1/8in.) for the handles and the shoulder strap in cotton or polyester (softer), 2 fastening buckles and 1 sliding buckle for the shoulder strap, all buckles adapted in size to the width of the webbing (often we use a buckle between 38 and 40 mm for a 40 mm wide shoulder strap). As an option, 2 hooks to make the shoulder strap removable.
