My Dear Brother,
I rcvd this morning your affectionate letter of the -th, --- the – as therein stated, which I do not contemplate using until I procure and send to you. Mr. Sellman’s note for same amount which you have agreed to take for it. I also rcvd your other letters, and the – for which I am very much obliged to you. I should have written to you sooner, but have been, and still am, very much with a dreadful cold & pain in the breast, with ---- pains; indeed I am so much of an invalid that I am scarcely able to write to day which will account for my apparent neglect; poor little George too, has been quite sick & although I had hoped for the last two or three days, that he was about to get quite well again, he looks so badly again this morning that I am fearful he will have another attack. I am truly glad to hear that you are all well and pray that the Almighty will continue to you and your wife and child --- that most invaluable of all earthly blessings. I devised from the communication of the very satisfying intelligence that you were ordered on duty to Baltimore, I hope it will be a permanent situation, as I shall not like to be separated far from you. Your very kind & affectionate --- for the sojourn of my dear children with you for two or three days on their return, being but a continuation of your every thoughtful & tender solicitude for their happiness , does not excite any surprise, although it commands my admiration and gratitude. How the dear ones will rejoice when I communicate the welcome intelligence and love to Ann with a kiss for my der nice & write soon
