Superbe photo d’un biplan Breguet 14 B2 en vol, 1917-18. Le mitrailleur à l’arrière agite son bras. Sur le fuselage, cocarde d’un serpent.
En 1917 Lt. Hubert de Geffrier, commandant de l'escadrille SOP 107, adopte un serpent ailé bleu et jaune, que l'on retrouve sur les armoiries de sa famille.
Ecrit au bas "un de nos avoins en plein vol".

Le Breguet 14 (ou Breguet XIV) est un biplan conçu en France et utilisé pendant la Première Guerre mondiale. Il servait comme avion de reconnaissance ou bombardier. Il a été fabriqué en un grand nombre d’exemplaires durant la guerre (plus de 5 000 exemplaires)…
Il s’agit du premier avion produit en masse qui utilisait une structure métallique et non en bois. À résistance égale, cette structure était plus légère, rendant l’avion plus rapide et agile vu sa taille. Il est pour cette raison considéré comme le meilleur bombardier moyen du conflit, tout en étant notamment l'appareil biplace le plus rapide
Le 6 mars 1917, les commandes débutent avec 150 avions de reconnaissance et 150 bombardiers, désignés respectivement Breguet 14 A.2 et Breguet 14 B.2... tandis que l'aile inférieure du 14 B.2 est légèrement modifiée afin de pouvoir emporter un « rack » de bombes construit par Michelin.
Le Breguet 14 est alors le plus rapide des appareils biplaces, et probablement le plus efficace en tant que bombardier moyen. Il est déjà bien accepté par l’armée et auréolé d’un certain prestige.
