A Sycamore 3 drawer desk by Raphael Raffel with rope theme garniture. Late 1930's. France.
This striking desk is part of a large group of Sycamore furniture designed by Raphael and feature in the 1939 Salon Des Arts Mengers. This show was seen as solidifying Raphaels place with the contemporary luxury interior design market. The follow translation was taken from Guy Bloch-Champfort definitive book on Raphael, "Raphael Decorateaur" "In 1939 The Salon Des Arts Mengers welcomed the - Modern Decorators for the first time.
