This is a striking Navajo all silver cuff bracelet. This outstanding bracelet contains a beautiful waving silver cuff that waves from the ends towards the center. I absolutely love the silver works on this bracelet. The silver works consist of shells, raindrops, ropes and repoussed shells. The beauty of the simplistic all silver bracelet is just fascinating. Repoussé is a metalworking technique that involves shaping and decorating metal by hammering or pressing it from the reverse side. Navajo jewelry, particularly silver bracelets, often feature repoussé designs. The Navajo people have a rich tradition of silverwork, which developed in the late 19th century influenced by Spanish and Mexican silversmithing techniques. The art of repoussé was incorporated into Navajo jewelry making, adding depth, texture, and intricate designs to their silver bracelets. Navajo silversmiths use various tools, such as hammers, punches, and specialized stakes, to create the repoussé effect. By carefully hammering or pressing the metal from the back, they raise the design on the front side, creating a three-dimensional effect.
