The Bisbee Turquoise Mine, located in southeastern Arizona, stands as one of the most renowned and historically significant sources of turquoise in the world. Mined since the late 19th century, Bisbee turquoise is celebrated for its distinctive deep blue to green hues, often accompanied by a rich chocolate-brown matrix. The mine produced turquoise of exceptional quality, characterized by its hardness and vibrant coloration, making it highly sought after for Native American and Southwestern jewelry. The uniqueness of Bisbee turquoise lies not only in its stunning aesthetic but also in its historical importance, contributing significantly to the cultural heritage of American turquoise mining. Despite the mine's closure in the 1970s, the legacy of Bisbee turquoise endures, and the stones from this mine remain highly coveted among collectors and artisans for their rarity and timeless beauty. The center stone measures around 3/4" x 5/8". The ring face measures around 1-1/4" x 1". Signed by Navajo artist, A. Edsitty. The ring size is around 9. Sterling silver, marked. Sturdy 10 grams.
